Noted senior Pakistani lawyer and former Attorney General Sharifuddin Pirzada passed away on Friday at the age of 94.
Pirzada was secretary to Pakistan’s founding father Muhammad Ali Jinnah in the 1940s. He served as attorney general and foreign minister and authored orders that gave legal weight to two coups d’état. He was prime adviser to General Pervez Musharraf.He was highly controversial personality among political and judicial circle. Pirzada also served as the secretary-general of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) from 1985 to 1988.
