Birmingham: Micky Arthur the head coach of Pakistan’s cricket expressed his anger on the wrong selection of Wahab Riaz over Junaid khan as the pacer was not fully fit.
Boys worked very hard for this crucial contest in last 12 days but sometime things didn’t go as we plan. Green shirts could not execute the plan as was decided before the match. I selected Wahab over junaid and will take all the criticism for this.
“It’s up to me and my coaching staff to find out why we didn’t execute. Why were we so tentative? That’s more the issues for me at the moment. So, it’s disappointing, but we’ll go back to the drawing boards and we’ll hopefully come back a lot stronger,” the coach said.
Moreover the fielding of green shirts was pathetic. We dropped many opportunities. Hassan Ali dropper Yuvraj and Fahim Ashraf dropped Kohli which proved very destructive later.
Mickey added that the performance was a reality check for Pakistan of where it stand in one day cricket but refuse to blame the players for not putting enough efforts. We will go back and analyse where things go wrong and we couldn’t execute our plan
