Rain with T-storms expected in most areas

Pakistan Meteorological Department has predicted rain showers and strong winds in several parts of the country during the next 24 hours.

According to the Met Dept. the following areas are expected to receive rain fall / wind storm:

  • Khyber Pakhtunkhwa
  • Rawalpindi
  • Gujranwala
  • Lahore
  • Sargodha
  • Faisalabad
  • Fata
  • Gilgit-Baltistan
  • Kashmir

In Islamabad, seeing as how the temperature touched 43-46 degrees during the past few days, last night’s rains brought about some respite for the residents of the capital city. Additionally, downpours in Charsadda, Abbottabad and Murree were recorded as well, with temperatures falling in the surrounding regions.

Thunderstorms with abrupt rush of winds Expected

The following areas will receive a dust-thunderstorm/rain with gusty winds today:

  • Khyber Pakhtunkhwa
  • Rawalpindi
  • Gujranwala
  • Lahore
  • Sargodha
  • Faisalabad divisions
  • FATA
  • Islamabad
  • Gilgit-Baltistan
  • Kashmir

Hot and dry weather is expected in all other areas in Pakistan.

Temperature Readings for Today

Temperatures this morning were recorded with:

  • Islamabad at 28°C,
  • Lahore 34°C,
  • Karachi 30°C,
  • Peshawar 23°C,
  • Quetta 18°C,
  • Gilgit 18°C,
  • Murree 17°C
  • Muzaffarabad 22°C.

The news comes in after yesterday’s heatwave that swept through cities across Pakistan.

Heatwave Overwhelms Pakistan

Record high temperatures were recorded last week, with Turbat facing the highest ever recorded temperature in Pakistan at 53.5°C. This is close to the highest ever recorded temperature in Death Valley, USA at 53.9°C.
