Gujranwala: A woman gave birth to a baby boy in a rickshaw outside the District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital Gujranwala on Thursday after she was denied admission due to lack of space in the gynecology ward.
The woman was rushed to the hospital after she complained about labour pain. However, the hospital administration refused to admit her citing lack of space in the gynae ward.
The woman gave birth to the baby in the rickshaw in parking area of the hospital. The family took the woman and the new born home without being attended by a doctor and the nursing staff.
The family has demanded that the health high ups take notice of the issue and take strict action against the hospital administration.
There have been different instances in Pakistan of women giving births in rickshaw-the most popular mean of in-city travel in Pakistan. In 2015, a woman gave birth to a baby in rickshaw when she could not reach hospital on time sue to traffic jam by VIP movement.
