LAHORE: The Airport Security Force (ASF) on Monday foiled an attempt to smuggle contraband at the Lahore airport.
Six kilogrammes of heroin and ice was seized from a couple caught trying to smuggle the illegal drugs, the ASF said.
“The drugs were recovered during a search prior to Muhammad Anwar and his wife boarded a foreign airline to travel to Jeddah to perform Umrah,” ASF personnel said.
The couple was taken into custody by security forces.
British National arrested at Karachi airport for carrying narcotics:
KARACHI: A British national who was trying to smuggle the drugs was arrested by the Customs officials from Karachi airport.
The preventive staff posted at Jinnah International Airport intercepted a passenger, custom officer Qamar Thalho, adding that upon examination of his baggage, it was found that light brown heroin powder had been concealed in the top lid and bottom of one of his suitcases. On measurement, the recovered heroin powder was found to weigh 7.75 kilogrammes and was worth Rs77.7 million
The arrested passenger, identified as Jawed Ali, son of Qurban Ali, is a British national. He was travelling to London via Muscat on Oman Airlines flight No WY-326, said the Customs official.
A case has been registered against the accused while further investigations are under way.
