JIT issues summon to Senator Rehman Malik to appear before it

The joint investigation team (JIT) probing the Sharif family‘s business dealings abroad has summoned PPP Senator Rehman Malik to appear for questioning, the senator’s spokesperson said Monday.

The spokesperson said that in a summons addressed to the senator, the JIT had asked Malik to appear before it on June 13 (Tuesday).

However, Malik, who has been abroad since June 9 in connection with the PPP’s overseas affairs, has requested an adjournment, the spokesperson said, adding that Malik will cut short his visit abroad in order to appear before the JIT.

PM Nawaz is also expected to appear before the JIT on Thursday, making him the first incumbent to appear before such a panel, let alone one probing allegations of financial irregularities or fraud against nearly his entire family, going back three generations.
