At the unveiling of Madhubala’s Anarkali wax figure at Madame Tussauds Delhi on Thursday, the star’s sister who was present at the event expressed her happiness at the statue and said, “Thank you everyone for remembering her and still keeping her in your hearts.”
She went on to disclose who she thinks would make the perfect Madhubala from Bollywood – if there were to be a biopic made on the late actor.
“There was a time when I wanted Madhuri Dixit to play the role of Madhubala in her biopic but now it has to be Kareena Kapoor Khan as she has the same naughtiness that Madhubala used to have and she is a beautiful actress too.”
Talking about her sister’s traits she said: Madhubala was very simple at home. She was elder but never bossy and she used to encourage all of us to come in films.
Some of Madhubala’s most notable works are Mahal (1949), Chalti Ka Naam Gaadi (1958), Mughal-e-Azam (1960) and Barsaat Ki Raat (1960).
The actor passed away in 1969 after suffering from a prolonged illness.
