SC asks Imran Khan’s counsel to submit missing details of Bani Gala

ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court  resumed Imran Khan disqualification case hearing today.

As the proceedings started, PTI chairman’s counsel Naeem Bukhari informed the bench that he has submitted his reply as per the court orders.

To this, the chief justice remarked that Bukhari still has to submit the missing financial details of Imran’s Bani Gala property.

Where are the details of funds sent by Jemima for the Bani Gala property purchase, asked the chief justice. He also remarked that the PTI chairman’s reply does not include details of how the property was purchased in Jemima’s name. You need to satisfy the court regarding the 160,000 pounds, the chief justice remarked further.

Bukhari assured the bench he will try his best to satisfy the court.

The petition was filed by Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz leader Hanif Abbasi and is being heard by a three-member bench headed by Chief Justice Saqib Nisar and comprising Justice Faisal Arab and Justice Umar Ata Bandial.

The petition asks for the disqualification of Imran Khan and PTI Secretary General Jahangir Tareen for the non-disclosure of assets, ownership of offshore companies and for PTI being a foreign-funded party.

The last hearing for the case was held on August 3, after which it was postponed until further notice.

Before the case was adjourned in August, the bench had also summoned, for the second time, a copy of Imran Khan’s passport for verification of the ‘non-resident’ status.

Meanwhile, Abbasi’s counsel Akram Sheikh had argued that it was necessary to prove the source of funds arguing over the money trail of Imran Khan’s properties.
