PESHAWAR: Chairman Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, Imran Khan Friday demanded merger of FATA into Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and said that if the matter was delayed it would increase miseries of tribesmen besides providing militants chances of germination and reorganization.
Addressing a press conference at Chief Minister House, he said that decision affecting the fate of tribal people must be taken before 2018 giving them chances of due representation in elected forums to raise their issues.
He said that governing system of FATA has been in limbo and the only option available at present is merger of FATA for which KP is fully ready.
He said that merger would introduce local government system in FATA that would pave the way for mainstreaming of tribal areas. He said that tribal people who face hardships after military operations and displacement deserve that their issues must be resolved immediately.
He said that massive corruption was underway in FATA that led to misuse of funds allocated for tribal people adding KP is economically and administratively fit to govern tribal areas.
PTI Chief said if the decision of merger in delayed to 2023 it would produce negative implications including chances of our enemies to germinate.
To a question, he said that we support FATA parliamentarians who have planned a sit-in in Islambabad on October 9. He also said that PPP and PMLN should avoid naming candidates for the slot of Chairman NAB as both the parties have been accused of corrupt practices.
He hoped that the parliamentary committee would consider the name among the panelist submitted by PTI for the slot.
On the occasion, Mufti Sajjad of JUI-F announced joining PTI reposing confidence in the leadership of Imran Khan.
Provincial Information Minister, Shah Farman was present on the occasion faced embarrassment after some of journalists accused him of non-cooperation with journalist community.
At the outset of the press conference, President Peshawar Press Club, Alamgeer Khan stood and complained of the behavior of provincial government especially CM and Info Minister regarding ignoring their issues.
He said that nobody in the provincial government listened to our problems and priorities and concerns of journalist were overlooked. Supporting PPC President, Arif Yousafzai and Tariq Afaq warned to boycott activities of PTI in the province if the PTI leadership did not mend their mend ways with journalist fraternity.
They told Imran Khan that his information minister always skips journalist whenever they approached him for seeking comments of government on various matters.
