‘Punjab education system one of the best in world’

 

MULTAN:The current education system in Punjab is one of the best systems in the world, said Punjab Education Minister Rana Mashhood here on Monday.

Speaking at a ceremony of “Early Childhood Education at Quaid-e-Azam Academy for Educational Development as the chief guest, he said that under the programme 5,000 model schools have been established while the number would be raised to 10,000 during the current year.

He said that a number of organisations working in education sector of the world were assisting the Punjab government. It was a big challenge to equip every child with education by ending child labour, the minister said and added that the number of school-going children was nine million before Shehbaz Sharif government took over. Now the number had gone up to over 10 million.

Rana Mashhood said that the Punjab government was providing solar equipment to 10,000 schools of south Punjab, adding that it would be enhanced to 12,000 schools within this year.

He said that this year on ‘Salaam Teachers Day’, 500 star teachers were awarded while the government would double the number the next year for encouraging them.

Earlier, Provincial Secretary Education Dr Allah Bakhsh said we all, especially teachers, should play our role for betterment of society. He said that establishment of 5,000 model school under Early Childhood Education programme was completion of Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif’s vision.

Chairman District Council Syed Dewan Abbas and regional programme manger also spoke on the occasion.

A large number of teachers and education department officials attended the ceremony.

Meanwhile, Rana Mashhood said that the Pakistan Muslim League-N government is working round-the-clock to resolve issues of energy and terrorism.

Both the issues have almost been resolved, he said adding that the journey of development is under way at a fast pace.

Talking to the media, here on Monday, he lauded the Sharif family for appearing before courts. He, however, added that justice should only be done but it also must be seen to done.

Mashhood said a number of very important cases had been pending with the courts for years, but they were insisting on hearing only the Sharif family cases and deciding them in six months.Rana Mashhood said now people have recognised those who were misleading them by making undue hue and cry.

The decision given by people in NA-120 Lahore constituency is also a verdict, said the minister adding that the PML-N would win Election 2018 with heavy margin.

Responding to a question, he said that the recent US statement on China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) project was enough to open eyes of all political parties of Pakistan. There is dire need to forge unity among people and political parties, he added.

The minister said that Pakistan Muslim League-N had always respected the courts and it also waged struggle for the independence of judiciary.

To a question, Mashhood said that Pakistan was now making rapid progress and its enemies were busy in hatching conspiracies against it.
