Violence on women in our society is not a matter of fact. It penetrates from home to community then in Nation. It’s true that women are like slaves in our society. Sometimes they faced tough situations like Divorce, vengeance of Vincent, acid attacks, honor killing, and frightened being raped.
If a woman is raped, one of the conditions of the law requires that woman must provide for four pious Muslim witnesses for seeing the crime. Let for a moment condone that part of the law. But, the worst cruelty of the law is that in case of failing to provide witnesses, the rape victim will be charged of fornication, the punishment for which is stoning to death. Recently the same incident occurs in Multan, when a boy raped a girl, and panchayat ordered to do the same act with his sister. It’s not a new story when a girl faces this type of cruelty. Many events in the past are available such as an actress Qandeel Baloch, who was killed by her brother.
Given these facts, the Women in Pakistan do not possess their due rights guaranteed by the Constitution and Laws. The state is unable to protect the women from inhuman social customs prevalent in our society. The general population is mum over wicked practices being carried out on women, there is a great need of their voice against anti-women practices rather than forming laws over laws. The only need is to wake people of Pakistan for the Protection of Women Rights.
Jirga and panchayat law system helps to keep store that power. This system makes deep roots from the beginning of Pakistan, which never leads to an end. Before case, Assembly system already makes priorities between men and women. Women have no identity, but a husband’s slave. The women are considered as unwilling creature, where else man is better and strong to uphold the power. Society strengthened these types of behaviors by helping these customs acts.
There are many cases recorded in which women are killed in the name of honor. According to a report presented by the Interior Ministry, there have been 4100 honor killings since 2001. The report also criticizes that under ‘Qisas and Diyat” law, the killer could easily be forgiven after paying compensation for the blood of the dead. Even they have no rights to do marriage with her own decision, if she does they killed her. Because her family representatives thought our nose is cut off in the community, their respect ends in relatives.
Politics in Pakistan is a game of holding power
and doing everything whether right or wrong
in order to secure that power. Women have been
a victim of such a political game.
According to human rights anywhere in the world a girl raped in every two hours. In a research 70-90% women are faced the cruelty from house, five women killed every day. Moreover, husbands, in-laws, and their relatives also victimize the woman with allegation of fornication. In fact, the reason is their personal grievances and enmity for not bringing enough dowry or not following the orders of in-laws.
Despite freedom and development, violence on women was not over yet. Violence on women is against human rights. It’s not only found in Pakistan but all around the world. Last year United Nation set a development target in more than 91 countries including Pakistan, the women rights is one of them. Unluckily Pakistan is one of those countries who failed to achieve these goals.
Pakistan is 3rd most terrifying country for women. Man’s cruel behavior and abuses has historical background which makes these women abusive.
According to acid survivor’s foundation One thousand cases are registered every year. More than one hundred rape cases registered, but no one knows the original figures of effected women.
Now for some time many bills passed through assembly for the protection of women and their rights, harassment protection Act is one of them.
Given these facts, the Women in Pakistan do not possess their due rights guaranteed by the Constitution and Laws. The state is unable to protect the women from inhuman social customs prevalent in our society. The only need is to wake people of Pakistan for the Protection of Women Rights.
