RAWALPINDI: World Egg Day was observed at Pir Mehr Ali Shah, Arid Agriculture University, with an aim to raise awareness about benefits of Eggs and their importance in daily life, here on Friday.
The event was organized by the university in collaboration with Poultry Science Club, Pakistan Poultry Association and SB Poultry. Egg dishes cooking competition, a seminar and walk was held in which faculty members and large number of students participated. Boiled eggs were also distributed among the participants.
An Awareness walk was led by Prof. Dr. Rai Niaz Ahmad, Vice Chancellor PMAS-AAUR along with Dr. Muhammad Aslam, Chairman Pakistan Poultry Association and Dr. Muhammad Sadiq, CEO Sadiq Brothers Poultry.
Seventeen thousand million eggs produced per year in country
RAWALPINDI, Oct 13 (APP):China has 230 eggs consumption rate per annum while it is 85.5 in the country which produces seventeen thousand million eggs per annum.
Poultry Research Institute (PRI) here Friday celebrated World Egg Day with the motto to create awareness among the people regarding benefits of eating eggs. A awareness walk on Murree road was held which was participated by students, teachers and members of civil society.
A seminar was also held in which Director General Livestock (Research) Abdur Rauf said egg are full of essential nutrients and vitamins that are sufficient for a blanced and healthy diet.Children must take eggs and milk in their break fast to make up with deficiency .
Ex-Director General Livestock Bashir Mehmood Bhatti, Chairman Pakistan Poultry Association (PPA) Khalid Saleem Malik, Director PRI Dr. Abdur Rehman and Madam Rozina also spoke on the occasion. Dr. Abdur Rehman said 1 billion of the world population are starving due to lack of healthy food.
China has more egg consumption than Pakistan even other countries have 300 eggs consumption per annum where this figure sticks to 85.5 only. Ms Rozina, a Biochemist at PRI elaborated the benefits of eating egg.
