PPP unveils golden jubilee logo for foundation day

KARACHI (Monitoring Desk): Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) on Wednesday unveiled official logo for Golden Jubilee Foundation Day of the party on November 30, 2017.

The party has planned a rally in Islamabad to mark its 50th anniversary.

PPP was founded by former prime minister and populist leader Zulfikar Ali Bhutto on 30 November 1967. The party through mass mandate managed to form the federal government thrice in its 50-year political journey.

Speaking at a press conference on October 13, PPP leader Chaudhry Manzoor said: “PPP has survived four martial laws and remained firm in its vision”. PPP continues to serve people the same way it did before, he added.

The party is known for braving the strict dictatorship of General Zia-ul-Haq, who not only dismissed the Bhutto-led government but also perceived to be involved behind the controversial judicial decision against the party leader, leading to his hanging. After Bhutto’s demise, the party was led by his wife Late Nusrat Bhutto. Later, Late Benazir Bhutto took the party’s helm of affairs till her tragic assassination at Rawalpindi’s Liaquat Bagh on Dec 27, 2007.
