Mayor London Sadiq Khan arrives Lahore, meets CM Punjab

Lahore (Monitoring Desk): Mayor London Sadiq Khan has arrived Lahore and met Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif.

He entered Pakistan from India via the Wagah Border Crossing.

Khan was received on the Pakistani side of the border by Mayor Lahore Col (retd) Mubashar and senior government officials.

Khan was thrown a party by tycoon Mukesh Ambani in Mumbai and the bash was attended by B-Town celebrities among others.

Some Bollywood biggies graced the party including Shahrukh Khan, Karan Johar, Amitabh Bachan, Katrina Kaif and Alia Bhatt among others.

The visit aims at developing relations with South Asia after Britain voted to move out of European Union (EU) termed Brexit. The tour comes as part of British campaign called ‘London is Open’.

Second and last leg of Sadiq Khan’s visit includes touring Pakistan for better cultural terms between the two sides.

KPK govt. allocates Rs. 3 billions to improve periphery medical facilities

Peshawar (Monitoring Desk): Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government led by PTI has allocated Rs. Rs. 3 billions to improve periphery medical facilities in the province.

The programme will include hiring doctors, nurses, paramedics and technicians at the primary and secondary level apart from reinforcing it with new equipment. “We have a clear direction and that is to upgrade facilities in the peripheries so that patients do not have to travel to tertiary care hospitals or even to the cities for treatment,” a senior health official told media.

The official, who requested anonymity since he was not entitled to speak to media, stated that apart from Rs3b allocated for the project, they had finalised the contracting rates while a list for the equipment which will be procured has been published on the health department’s website.

Noting that publishing the list was meant to encourage transparency, he adding that facilities from a civil dispensary to the DHQ will be upgraded to improve their service delivery.
