Gilani hopes several political bigwigs will join PPP soon

MULTAN: Former prime minister and PPP leader Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani disclosed on Wednesday that many political bigwigs would join the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP)  after the public gathering to be held on December 15 here.

Talking to the media after reviewing arrangements at the Qasim Bagh Stadium, the venue of the gathering, along with other party office-bearers, Gilani said that they had completed arrangements for a successful procession in the city.

He said PPP chairman Bilawal Bhutto would announce the party’s manifesto in the gathering for the next general election, adding that his party would win the election on the basis of its past performance and manifesto.  The PPP would put up a big show in the city, he hoped and said that it would bring vigour and vitality in the party workers.

To a question, the PPP senior leader said the administration had ensured foolproof security steps for the gathering.

To another question, Gilani said that former Prime Ministers ZA Bhutto and Benazir Bhutto Shaheed had also addressed public rallies at the same venues in the past.

PPP South Punjab president Makhdoom Ahmad Mehmmod, senior vice president Khawaja Rizwan Alam and other local leaders accompanied Gilani.
