Customs post additional 38% revenue in 1st half of 2017-18

MULTAN: Model Customs Collectorate Multan has collected Rs 20,437 million against a target of Rs 16,668 million in the first half of fiscal year 2017-18,surpassing the target by 22.6 per cent.

Collector Customs Multan Imran Saud told APP that overall recovery performance was calculated at 122.6 per cent, 22.6 per cent above the target and 38.3 per cent more than the recovery made during the first half of 2016-17.

He highlighted that Multan recovered Rs 4705 million as customs duty against a target of Rs 3967 million, Rs 15,522 million as sales tax and additional sales tax against a target of Rs 12,456 million, Rs 91 million as federal excise duty (FED) against a target of Rs 121 million, and

Rs 120 million as income tax against a target of Rs 124 million.

ISLAMABAD: Special Assistant to Prime Minster on Revenue, Haroon Akhtar Khan Thursday said the government believed in creating business friendly environment for all business community and wanted to address their genuine problems.

“We shall try to resolve the problem of sales tax on foam manufacturers in the upcoming budget and will take further steps to uplift this industry,” he said during a meeting with the delegation of All Pakistan Foam Manufacturers Association (Non-Exempted Group).
