KARACHI (Monitoring desk): CJP Mian Saqib Nisar on Tuesday took notice of transfer of Shahrukh-Jatoi to Jinnah Hospital. Shahrukh is the prime perpetrator of the murder of Shahzeb Khan.
Shahrukh-Jatoi had also formerly whiled-away most of his confinement at the JPMC alluding to medical issues.
Regarding shifting of Shahrukh-Jatoi to Jinnah, the Chief Justice Pakistan Nisar demanded from Inspector General of Police Sindh and IG prisons to submit a report within 24 hours.
It is important to remark that Shahrukh-Jatoi after complaining of back-ache was transferred to Jinnah Hospital on Friday night upon the suggestion of the jail’s medical officer.
The MO requested for the transfer owing to the lack of resources within jail premises to appease the ailment.
The Supreme Court had ordered the re-arrest of Shahrukh-Jatoi, Siraj Talpur and other convicts in the Shahzeb Khan murder case. Following the order, Shahrukh-Jatoi and others were taken into custody from the court premises.
The apex court had been prevailed upon by civil society members against the Sindh High Court’s (SHC) decision of a re-trial after acquittal of terrorism charges from the conviction against the accused.
The apex court ignoring the appeal by civil society, took a sou motu action and nullified SHC order.
On December 23, 2017, Shahrukh-Jatoi the son of an influential feudal, and other defendants in the Shahzeb Khan murder case, were released from custody on bail after Shahzeb Khan’s father submitted an affidavit in support of the defendant’s bail application.
Shahzeb Khan was gunned down by Shahrukh-Jatoi in a posh locality of Karachi on December 25, 2012.
An ATC in 2013 had awarded death sentences to Shahrukh-Jatoi and Siraj Talpur for the murder of Shahzeb Khan, while life sentences were awarded to Sajjad Ali Talpur and Ghulam Murtaza Lashari.
