Lahore (Monitoring Desk): Counsel of Imran Ali, the prime suspect in Zainab Ameen murder and brutal rape has apologized and informed the Anti-terrorism court that his conscience doesn’t allow to represent Imran Ali after his confessional statement.
Anti-Terrorism Court-I (ATC) Judge Sajjad Ahmad is conducting the trial inside the Kot Lakhpat Jail, where Imran Ali, is jailed on remand.
Seven-year-old Zainab was kidnapped from near her aunt’s house in Kasur on January 4 and found dead in a garbage heap five days later. On January 23, the authorities claimed to have arrested the suspect, a serial killer involved in other such crimes, through a DNA match.
Following the defence counsel’s withdrawal today, the Punjab prosecutor general assigned Imran a government lawyer, Mohammad Sultan.
Robbers kills GCU professor at Kalma Chowk Lahore today
Lahore (Monitoring Desk): Armed robbers has killed professor of Government College University at Kalma Chowk Lahore today while resisting robbery.
According to police, Professor Dr Akbar Cheema was travelling in his car when armed robbers intercepted him near Kalma Chowk to rob him of his valuables. When the professor resisted the robbery, they fatally shot him.
The suspects, who were on a motorcycle, fled the scene after the shooting.
Police transferred the deceased professor’s body to hospital for post-mortem and have launched an investigation into the incident.
Dr. Akbar Cheema was a professor at the GCU’s Botany Department.
